LOS ANGELES: Huvane Baum Halls, the PR agency behind Russell Crowe,
Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, is set to become celebrity
publicity house PMK's first-ever acquisition.
The dollars 1 million-plus agreement is due to be finalized this week
and will deliver control of a huge roster of top Hollywood talent to a
PMK, which was purchased by Interpublic Group's Momentum Worldwide two
years ago, is run by Pat Kingsley, famed for her hardball negotiating
tactics. She told PRWeek: 'About a year ago (Momentum vice chairman)
Mark Dowley came and asked who else was there, and we said Huvane Baum
However, when rumors about the two surfaced a year later (last spring)
both parties kept mum.
'We weren't really looking,' said HBH partner Stephen Huvane, 'but they
came in and did a beautiful presentation. We had to decide whether to go
on alone or with partners.'
The new firm will be known as PMK/HBH and will remain part of Momentum
Kingsley will become managing partner, while Huvane, Robin Baum and
Simon Halls will become managing directors. PMK's Lois Smith and Leslee
Dart will be named deputy managing partners.
The two firms will merge offices in New York and Los Angeles, with HBH
adding its 15 employees to PMK's, which number more than 50.
Huvane said there would be no redundancies as a result.
