GCI Group merges with its Web sister

NEW YORK: GCI Group is absorbing sister Internet agency Elemental

Interactive and renaming it GCI Interactive.

Both firms are owned by Grey Global Group and had cooperated on some

accounts in the past year and a half, said James Harris, CEO of

Elemental has 22 people and had revenues of dollars 2.5 million last

year, which Harris described as 'modest growth.' He claimed that the

firm was not hit by the dot-com bust, since its client base is largely

blue-chip. Clients include IBM, AT&T and Coca-Cola.

Bob Pearson, GCI president for North America, said GCI had been

outsourcing interactive work, and 'it became obvious it should be

brought in-house.'
