Changes at Bunge to raise its profile

WHITE PLAINS, NY: Agribusiness giant Bunge has named a new director

of global communications while its North American unit, Bunge

Corporation, has unveiled a new logo, name and image campaign to become

better known outside the commodity business.

In the new post, Hunter Smith will oversee IR, PR, advertising,

government relations, external and internal communications, and

philanthropic efforts.

Smith most recently had been assistant treasurer with Bunge. He joined

the company in June 1999.

Bunge Corporation, based in St. Louis, is changing its name to Bunge

North America and has begun using a new slogan: "Enhancing the Value of

America's Harvest." The company also has a new logo.

"These changes clearly define the North American geographic focus of our

operations and activities," said John Klein, Bunge North America

president and CEO.

Bunge has long been known in the grain-trading pits of Chicago's

commodity markets, but now wants to raise its profile with food

processors, food-service operators and food retailers.
