WASHINGTON: PR had a seat at the table for the last 17 months under
Bill Novelli at the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
But now he has been promoted from associate executive director for
public affairs to executive director and CEO of the 35 million member
organization, it has moved to the head of the table.
Novelli's public affairs portfolio includes communications, advocacy,
publications, partnerships and international work. Following his
ascension from PA chief to CEO, he is now considering if there is a way
he "might want to reorganize" before deciding on how and if his former
post is filled.
Novelli was a co-founder and former president of Porter Novelli, now the
world's seventh largest PR agency. He later did stints at CARE and the
Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids before arriving at AARP.
