McDonald to push HKTDC's message

NEW YORK: After a two month vacancy following the departure of Lou

Epstein, Jon-Marc McDonald has been hired away from Barnes & Noble's

communications department to head the office of corporate communications

and marketing for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

As communications director, McDonald will target American business media

with the message of Hong Kong and free trade investment opportunity. He

will also target the Hong Kong business media with similar messages

about American opportunities.

"Hong Kong and the US have been trade partners for years and my role is

to carry that message of the benefits of expanding trade," said

McDonald, who reports to Robin Chiu, director of the Americas for the


McDonald is also currently interviewing applicants for a second PR

staffer to assist him.
