NEW YORK: RLM Public Relations has brought in a new president and
chief operating officer as it attempts to re-engineer itself away from
its dependence on technology business.
Brian Flynn joined last week, replacing president Cary Goss, who has
moved to Chicago. Flynn, who was Citibank's director of marketing
communications between 1992 and 1999, got to know RLM CEO Richard
Laermer last year after he appointed RLM to promote his dot-com,
Eleven-year-old RLM has become well-known over the past two years for
stoking the buzz around dot-com start-ups like Kozmo.com.
But the sector which brought it so much success has bottomed out,
leaving RLM with just 11 clients - half of its total last year.
Laermer made five layoffs in March; the agency now employs 22 people.
