dollars 1m MAREC PR blitz gets the green light

PHILADELPHIA: The Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Coalition (MAREC)

expects to spend about dollars 1 million to launch a multi-year PR

program to increase consumer demand for renewable electricity generation

in the Mid-Atlantic region.

MAREC, a Philadelphia-based coalition of renewable energy businesses,

environmental organizations and government agencies, is looking to hire

The campaign is being undertaken, states the RFP, because "electricity

consumers no longer are required to purchase electric generation from a

single regulated monopoly in many states. Customers may choose lower

priced generation or, for the first time, they can demand clean energy

from renewable resources instead of having to accept electricity

generated from fossil or nuclear fuels."

As part of its first effort, dollars 100,000 will be spent on a mass

media and promotional campaign, while dollars 550,000 will be spent to

implement other activities. The remaining dollars 350,000 will be used

to promote the Pennsylvania Wind Campaign.
