GCI wins Pioneer USA PR business

LOS ANGELES: GCI Group has emerged triumphant from a final four-way

shootout for consumer electronics giant Pioneer Electronics USA.

The agency is said to have beaten out Edelman, Magnet and Wilson McHenry

to become agency of record for the business, estimated to be dollars 1

million for the first year and increasing thereafter.

GCI's appointment comes as Pioneer pledges to grow aggressively in the

US. Amy Friend, Pioneer's director of PR, said GCI understood "the

changing dynamics of the consumer electronics category and the

convergence of video and audio on both the home and mobile entertainment


The account team will be based in LA and work with GCI's consumer tech

practice in New York. Pioneer's annual revenue is in excess of dollars 5

billion, and it employs 29,000 people worldwide.
