APCO appoints a former Bush aide

WASHINGTON: APCO Worldwide is expanding its healthcare practice,

hiring Alixe Mattingly, former head of public affairs for two-year

client the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA),

to spearhead the effort.

The hire is a coup for CEO Margery Kraus. Mattingly is a veteran of both

public affairs and healthcare issues. She was a spokeswoman with six

different presidential campaigns, assistant secretary for public affairs

at the Health and Human Services Administration during the first Bush

administration and an SVP for public affairs at the Blue Cross Blue

Shield Association.
