How long have you been in your job?
A bit over three years.
Describe the space you work in
The new office we moved into in March is open and airy with huge windows
and lots of color. My personal space is kind of small, but in this age
of cubicles I'm fortunate to have an actual office door.
Do you socialize with your colleagues?
People do a lot of happy hours and dinner parties together.
I recently threw a cocktail party at my loft because it's two blocks
from the office. The martinis flowed, the music blared, my cat chilled
and a good time was had by all.
How often do you see the boss?
I have the distinct pleasure of seeing Jon Bailey, our CEO, about every
other day. He's really good about making time to visit with staff
members. He also has a secret stash of toys and Tom Jones CDs in his
office, which he can easily be talked into bringing out.
Who is the smartest person you work with?
That's a tough one, but I have to say Indra Gardiner, president. She has
a quiet intelligence and a knack for cutting through the BS that's
wonderful to observe and learn from.
What's the best thing about working there?
The dogs! Both Jon and Indra regularly bring their dogs to the office,
which makes for fun and hijinks!
And the worst thing?
The unfortunate built-in desk in my office. Although I love having a
door, I hate the fact that my desk is situated so I have to sit with my
back to it, because people tend to sneak up and scare the daylights out
What's been your biggest mistake while working there?
Wearing new, unbroken-in shoes to a trade show in Las Vegas. It's a
mistake every rookie PR exec must make.
What's the biggest thing to hit your office in the past year?
We've had five little ones join us in the past year and two more are
coming in the next three months.
