NEW YORK: Miramax Films is on the prowl to fill its top PR position
of publicity and corporate communications president.
The vacancy is a result of the departure of Marcy Granata, who said she
was stepping down to spend more time with her young child.
However, speculation is that Granata may join forces with hotelier Ian
Schrager, who has been on a search for an in-house heavy-hitter to
coordinate the work of a roster of PR agencies. Granata was not
available for comment at press time.
Miramax is famed for its huge publicity blitzes. Since being appointed
to her current position in 1999, Granata has spearheaded the promotion
of around 35 films a year for co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein. She
joined in 1994.
