NEW YORK: Omnicom Group reported second quarter results last week
that revealed while revenues from public relations are up year-on-year,
growth in the second quarter of 2001 was not as robust as in the
Total Omnicom worldwide revenues were up 15% to $1,746.8 million
(net income was $151.4 million) with public relations businesses
contributing revenues of $250.8 million in the second quarter.
That figure represents year-on-year growth of 14.2%. But revenues from
public relations in the first quarter were up 18.3% from the same period
last year, to $275.4 million.
As a percentage of overall Omnicom revenues, PR also lost ground,
dropping from 15.8% to 15.7%, despite new acquisitions.
Key public relations agencies, which sit in the Diversified Agencies
Services division under CEO Thomas Harrison, include Fleishman-Hillard,
Ketchum, Porter Novelli, Brodeur, Gavin Anderson, Cone, and Matthews
