GE creates senior PR post; hires Frail

FAIRFIELD, CT: Acknowledging the ever-closer relationship between

IR and PR, General Electric has created the PR position of manager of

financial communications. David Frail will leave Verizon - where he has

spent virtually his entire career - to fill the new job.

Beth Comstock, SVP of corporate communications for GE, said the company

created the position so one PR person could work with the investor

relations staff and the CFO on key announcements.

"We felt it was time to add that expertise to our team," said

"Most of our communications people tend to be generalists, and we felt

in terms of financial communication, we really wanted to focus in on

those issues."

Comstock said she did not anticipate any changes in GE's corporate

agency roster, which includes BSMG, Hill & Knowlton, and

Burson-Marsteller. GE does not currently have a specific agency for

financial communications.

Frail's position brings the in-house team to 25 people. Heyman

Associates conducted the executive search.
