ATLANTA: Creaxion, a three-year-old Atlanta-based PR firm, has
branched out with a sports marketing and special events unit.
The $3 million firm had no previous experience in sports
marketing, but three months ago brought in David Nicholson as vice
president to head up the division after Creaxion client Porsche Cars
North America asked for sports expertise. Nicholson previously worked on
campaigns for the Olympic Games, World Cup, and NASCAR. He will lead a
team of four.
Other clients for the division will include the Atlanta Beat, Atlanta's
professional women's soccer team. Nicholson is also talking to
MasterCard, Nike, AOL, and Coca-Cola.
The first major initiative will be Porsche's 50-state drive for HOPE, a
cancer research foundation. Creaxion has signed Yahoo! as the presenting
sponsor. People will be able to donate money to the HOPE Foundation on
Yahoo!, or can bid to take a driver's seat in the vehicles.
Creaxion has previously focused on hi-tech. Clients include
headhunter.net and ibill.com.
