WSW set to merge Beantown offices

NEW YORK: Weber Shandwick Worldwide is to merge the Boston arm of

Miller/Shandwick with the Cambridge arm of the Weber Group.

Cathy Lugbauer, CMO of WSW, said the Boston move prompted the company to

dismiss Tony Sapienza, former Miller president, and Kevin Rudden, former

agency EVP. WSW has not yet made a decision whether it will also merge

the Weber and Miller brands.

WSW is also consolidating its Silicon Valley properties by moving the

Weber Group's 14 staff to the San Mateo office of WSW. Some layoffs were

made in Silicon Valley and other WSW operations on the West Coast, but

none directly the result of the move, according to Lee Caraher, EVP of

the Western Region for the Weber Group.
