LAST CALL: Motorola execs are model employees

If you're only in PR because the modeling career never quite took

off, have we got the skinny for you.

The slow economy has allowed four Motorola sales and credit executives

to become models for a day. Cost-conscious employees did the work

gratis, whereas models would have charged $2,000 to walk around

and look pretty at the launch of Motorola's V.66 mobile phone.

The company folks got the star treatment, from the moment the lights

dimmed in the Four Seasons Hotel, to their dramatic entrances clad in

black, carrying phone-topped silver serving dishes.

With just two days' notice, Motorola was mum on whether execs did any

crash dieting, or whether there was any diva behavior. One thing is for

sure - by allowing its employees to exude some star power, Motorola has

taken a whole other step in internal relations. Let's just hope the

supermodel staffers don't pull a Naomi - refusing to get out of bed for

less than $10,000.
