Golin Harris beats six others to become new agency for Sprint

ATLANTA: Sprint Corporation has finally named Golin/Harris as its

agency of record, following a lengthy review.

The account was previously held by Burson-Marsteller, which had worked

with Sprint for five years.

In February, Sprint confirmed it was looking for "new approaches." Seven

firms participated in the final pitch.

Golin will be focusing primarily on corporate reputation, government

relations, and internal communications. The agency had previously worked

with Sprint on corporate projects.

Golin's "combination of innovation with experience" gave it the edge,

according to Bill White, VP of corporate communications for Sprint.

He said that one important aspect of the business will be to support

Sprint in its regulatory media relations effort.

"It is a premiere piece of business, and we felt there was a perfect fit

between the two companies," said Scott Farrell, a Golin EVP.

The team will be working in the trenches of the embattled

telecommunications sector. "It is certainly an industry that is being

challenged right now," Farrell said. "But that provides all the more

opportunity to re-inforce the company's position, so they are ready when

the bounce comes."
