Press releases relating to the terrorist activities started on PR

Many of the airlines that were not directly involved in the hijacking

incidents released statements of sympathy. One company posted news of

the death of a senior executive, a passenger on one of the planes that

hit the World Trade Center, on PR Newswire.

Morgan Stanley posted a release confirming it had set up a toll-free

number for families of its 3,500 staff working in the WTC.

The American Muslim Political Coordination Council condemned the attack

over PR Newswire, and the United Muslim Americans Association pleaded

for officials and media "not to rush to judgment and start accusing

Muslims, Arabs, or Palestinians."

Manning, Selvage & Lee, on Business Wire, offered the Control Risks

Group, an international risk management firm, for expert comment.

Rev. Billy Graham issued a statement at 2:25pm, calling for prayers.

The NASDAQ, American Stock Exchange, and New York Stock Exchange posted

an announcement at 5:04pm to say trading would be suspended through at

least Wednesday.
