CAREERS: Where I Work - Jim Brannigan, account executive, D. PaganCommunications

How long have you been in your job? - A year-and-a-half.

Describe the space you work in - My desk is that unique blend of clutter

chique meets the Apocolypse's third day. I've managed to keep the papers

and files chest level with just enough desk space to have the

interpersonal "inviting" conversation environment. I also keep a candle

on the desk. To the uninformed it's for "inspiration," but for those in

the trenches it's handy for torching faxes, reports and college loan

Do you socialize with your colleagues? - I couldn't ask for a nicer team

of people to work with. Oh, sure, I could ask ... but it wouldn't do any

good. Yes, we are a social group and we have been known to see each

other at night or on weekends. And sometimes we even smile and nod from

across the bar as we curse and swear into our drinks. But, the love is

Who is the smartest person you work with? - Oh, the urge to suck up here

is stronger than a really strong sucking up urge thing. I'd have to say

of the boys, Tom, and of the girls, Trish. It could be because both

names begin with the letter "T." Their natural instincts and smarts for

PR make them stand out. Honestly, I'm smarter than both combined, but

I've been taking lessons in sucking up from Inside the Actors' Studio's

James Lipton.

How often are you still there when the cleaners come around? - If we had

cleaners that came on time I'd say often.

What's been your biggest mistake while working there? - Having

interviewed and recommending hiring some of the people.

And your luckiest break? - Not having to be in on the firing of any of

the people.

What is the biggest thing to hit your office in the past year? - A

wrecking ball - which caused us to move to new offices.

Sneak us a good piece of gossip from your office - I would, but I'm

saving it for my review in case I need it.
