In the midst of the recent tragedy, the PR community has made an
extra effort to be cordial and make sure they do not say the wrong
thing.
But sometimes, someone lets the team down. During one of his many daily
calls to PRWeek, a certain agency flack told us, "We began working with
a client very relevant to the current crisis." His explanation: "I mean,
these people wear turbans."
Fortunately, his actions don't represent the general ground-swell of
support and class elsewhere in the industry, although we're still
debating whether or not to include a Boutros-Boutros Ghali award for
Diplomacy Under Duress in next February's PRWeek Awards.
