The past month has been difficult for organizations that
traditionally seek publicity for a cause by piggybacking their mission
on the news of the day.
So maybe we should take heart that some of these folks are getting back
into the swing of things, even though others may feel their timing is a
tad off.
Always the standard-bearer for tact, the Christian Coalition installed a
pop-up screen on its website last week asking visitors to click a link
for vital information about "homeland defense."
And the link lead to ... a diatribe against porn on the web.
The rant began: "The tragic terrorist attacks are driving home a very
painful lesson for every American. We must make it our top priority to
safeguard our own cities and towns from an insidious enemy." Keep
reading and this enemy turns out to be, of course, pictures of naked
people on the web.
Opportunistic? Tasteless? Far be it for us to judge.
