NEW YORK: PR firms in Havas' Euro RSCG Worldwide arm are hoping to
get increased network attention and credibility through a new global
planning council.
Euro RSCG has established a global planning council with reps from its
marketing services, interactive, and corporate communications
divisions.
The basically equal representation of all divisions is a first for the
network, said a company source, who described Euro RSCG as traditionally
ad-heavy in its corporate thinking. But the new deal reflects recent
acquisitions, and the fact that organic growth has lowered advertising's
stature to 40% of total income.
Marian Salzman, global director of strategic planning at Euro RSCG, will
head the council. Representing the PR division is Patrick de Regt,
director of network development and strategic planning at Euro RSCG
corporate communications in New York and Amsterdam.
Traditionally, said de Regt, only ad agency planners developed strategic
concepts. PR will now be involved from the start of the strategic
process, whereas before PR had been brought onboard later on.
The council had its first meeting two weeks ago in New York. Plans are
to organize at least two annual meetings with the full council, and one
for all senior network planners in a one- or two-day conference.
