SAN FRANCISCO: Fineman PR has been selected by Pocket-Mail to run
its grassroots and media relations campaign, which will help launch the
company's new PocketMail Composer.
The device, which is about the size of a checkbook, allows users to send
e-mail through cellular or ordinary land phone lines.
The Composer is cheaper than Rim's Blackberry, and its audience is not
the typical Blackberry-style consumer, in hot pursuit of the latest
gadgets.
The Composer proved particularly popular among RV travelers, retired
persons, and other people typically on the move. Fineman aims to tap
directly into that market.
"It's a very grassroots effort," said Heidi White, VP of client services
for Fineman. "We are reaching our audience through the media, but also
through the organizations that they belong to."
White said that today's skeptical technology media is willing to be
pitched about the PocketMail Composer. "There is an analog model that
makes this work, and that technology has been around a long time."
