RBB ends affiliate deal with WSW to become partner

MIAMI: Five years after selling her company to the Weber Group (now

Weber Shandwick Worldwide), RBB president Christine Barney has reached

an agreement with WSW to change Weber RBB back to RBB Public Relations,

stepping away from her affiliate deal and becoming a WSW partner.

Barney said the move was by mutual agreement. "My contract was coming up

in December," said Barney. "We were talking about what made sense for

both of us as the best way to proceed."

Under the new deal, RBB will be WSW's Florida presence and will be able

to access the WSW network. Barney said she was challenged by her new

financial independence, but looks forward to leading her own firm and

having more freedom to be entrepreneurial.

WSW and RBB will continue to share Miami-based client Burger King, and

Barney said no clients left as a result of the new arrangement.

The 20-person firm projects $2.5 million in revenues for 2001.

Top clients include Florida Power & Light (a 12-year client), the Adler

companies (a 17-year client), and Steel Hector and Davis law firm (a

nine-year client).
