Libations and good times have been in short supply in New York City
since September 11. But PR firm Maloney & Fox has decided it's safe to
go back to the party with a new weekly industry get-together hosted at
its Flat Iron loft.
It all began a couple of weeks ago, when a late Thursday afternoon
brainstorming session got out of hand.
"It quickly became clear that people needed to feel an alternative to
the prevailing mood in this city," says agency partner Margie Fox. "Not
only did it lift our spirit, but we came up with a very cool program
that we presented to a client the following day."
Crossing the boundaries of communications into a blur-filled arena of
booze-propelled storytelling and sociability, the event has since become
a weekly institution.
Christened the "M&F Get Happy Hour," the meeting was opened the
following week to a select group of friends and clients. The response
was so overwhelming that Maloney & Fox decided to open the invitation to
the whole PR industry.
The group welcomes all comers every Thursday at 3pm. Those interested in
attending should first send a warning e-mail to
Bring a positive attitude, check the Blackberry at the door, and be
prepared to make a donation of the prepackaged salty snack variety.
If the prospect of fun alone isn't enough to entice PR folks out of
their shells, the first 100 people to join the festivities will receive
a free Maloney & Fox coaster.
We hereby challenge you to not be tempted to sing the Partridge Family
theme song on your way to the event.
