Who would have guessed Justin Timberlake, the boy who does double
duty as *NSync heartthrob and beau to Britney Spears, would be too busy
to drum up a little media hype on his own behalf?
Timberlake has dropped out of a seven-figure book deal with Ballantine
Books to publish his first tome, Inside Drive: A Novel of Basketball,
Life and Love.
The reason?
In addition to not actually finding time to finish the writing part of
the book, Timberlake's rep says J.T. doesn't have time to participate in
the book's anticipated publicity blitz.
Ballantine didn't hesitate to say "Bye Bye Bye."
"We felt very strongly that we needed him to be able to go out on the
road and do national media appearances and bookstore events," Ballantine
VP and director of publicity Kim Hovey told the Associated Press.
Those who still yearn to see Timberlake stretch his artistic wings can
catch his cameo appearance in Miramax's On The Line, starring bandmates
Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
