MINNEAPOLIS: A government agency that oversees airports in the Twin
Cities area is searching for a new PR agency.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which runs the cities'
International Airport, along with six smaller fields in the Twin Cities
area, is considering pitches from B2 Communications, Carmichael Lynch
Spong, GCI Tunheim, and Padilla Speer Beardsley. Padilla is the
incumbent agency, but the commission is required by state law to open
the work to rebidding every six years, said Patrick Hogan, commission
public affairs officer.
The commission has spent $200,000 a year on PR, but that budget
is likely to drop significantly next year due to the decline in airport
traffic since the September 11 terrorist attacks. Sources think the
budget for the first year could fall to as low as $50,000.
