WASHINGTON: Elizabeth Shea, principal and cofounder of McLean,
VA-based Shea-Hedges Group, has been named Washington PR Woman of the
Year by Washington Women in Public Relations.
Shea, with Kristi Hedges, launched SHG in 1999 to create an agency
focused on the technology industry. In its first year, the firm grew to
20 employees, 12 clients, and nearly $2.5 million in
revenues.
Shea also serves as cochair of the communications committee for Women in
Technology. She said technology has been "a wild ride, and this year has
been full of ups and downs." The first part of Shea's professional
career was spent in Silicon Valley, working in marketing positions at
companies such as Apple and Claris Corporation.
The other two women honored were Kathleen Masters Dezio, VP of
communications at ACS State & Local Solutions, and Patricia Kelly,
cofounder and EVP of the FoodFit Company.
