WASHINGTON: The US Chamber of Commerce has tapped Qorvis
Communications to increase its exposure and more widely broadcast its
message.
Never known for its use of outside PR help, the Chamber is the world's
largest nonprofit business alliance, and boasts a massive internal staff
of lobbyists and communications professionals who protect the interests
of American businesses. Qorvis will be working to secure media
placements for Chamber spokespeople, particularly president Thomas
Donohue.
"We'll work with (Donohue) to place him on major TV and radio programs
by means of expanding the Chamber's message," said Qorvis partner
Michael Petruzzello. "Tom is one of the most dynamic leaders -
absolutely an unbelievable spokesperson."
Judy Smith, a partner at Qorvis, will lead the account.
The barely year-old agency also reeled in a major international account
in October: the government of Saudi Arabia. A crucial and often tenuous
US ally in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia hired Qorvis to help build
relationships in DC and assure legislators that they support US actions
in Afghanistan.
