TORONTO: Nokia has chosen Apex Public Relations as its agency of
record in Canada.
The company previously retained National Public Relations, but the
agency resigned the account over a conflict. Nokia works with Ketchum in
the US.
Six agencies pitched for the business. "We did a capabilities
presentation with an emphasis on case studies," said Pat McNamara,
president of Apex, which employs 17 people.
Apex will tackle heavy media relations work, as well as some executive
profiling and support for sponsorship events. Other Apex clients include
Adobe, Fuji digital cameras, Levi's, and the American Peanut
Council.
McNamara believes her firm's combined consumer and tech experience
helped win the account. "We can tackle the more complicated messages,
but also get their cell phones in the fashion pages," she said.
