RICHMOND, VA: TechnoScout, a company that creates advertorials to
sell technology gadgets, has hired Carter Ryley Thomas as its first
agency of record.
The company, a division of Technobrands, represents a wide range of
brands, such as Motorola, Braun, and RCA, and sells products
interactively, through catalogues and telephone sales.
John Fleming, Technobrands' creative director, said he reviewed several
agencies across the nation for more than a year before selecting
CRT.
No budget figures were divulged, but Fleming said the contract duration
is "just short of a year," and that the firm will focus on media
relations.
"We're in this for the long haul," he added. "We know nothing will
happen overnight." TechnoScout hopes to become as familiar to
early-adopting technophiles as The Sharper Image.
CRT's challenge is to raise the awareness of the TechnoScout name to
consumers, manufacturers, and the investment communities.
TechnoScout's ads touting products from robotic lawn mowers to wearable
DVD theaters and speakers appear frequently in in-flight magazines and
large-circulation media, such as USA Today and The New York Times.
Advertising is handled through a wholly owned agency of Technobrands.
