WHERE I WORK: Bruce Manning, Vice president, AccessMillennium3 PR

How long have you been in your job? 18 months.

Describe the space you work in My office has large windows and some sort

of Amazon-style non-carnivorous plant in the corner. My wall has photos

from my days as a TV reporter, radio news anchor, and photos of former

football player clients from my NFL agent days. I am about two miles

from the ocean and will occasionally drive down to the Seal Beach Pier

and relax for 45 minutes or so.

Who is the craziest person you work with? Richard Stehr is not crazy, he

just comes up with the craziest limericks at the drop of a hat.

A few months ago he won a limerick contest in The New Yorker. An

incredibly brilliant wordsmith, he's been a writer and PR practitioner

around LA and the Hollywood scene for a long time.

What is the best thing about working there? The clients, their great

technology, and the occasional travel. With the optical

telecommunications technology of tomorrow, I've had the opportunity to

peek into a crystal ball and see what's coming. I've also had the

opportunity to travel the US for trade shows and client media tours, and

recently spent some time in The Netherlands for ECOC (European

Conference on Optical Communications).

What is the worst thing about working there? The one-hour freeway drive

from my south Orange County home.

What's been your biggest mistake while working there? Thinking I could

jump right into a hi-tech environment and absorb the information

quickly.

It gets easier as you go, but there's a lot to learn in order to do the

job your clients expect and demand.

Sneak us a good piece of gossip from your office No gossip, just a

secret I haven't shared yet. I had been working on a book about an

accident-turned-murder I covered as a TV reporter in 1997. I recently

sold the rights to a Hollywood screenwriter, and it may become a TV

movie in the future.

The screenwriter is now working on the initial outline for the

networks.

There's no guarantee it will ever be produced - in fact I get no money

unless it is - but it's certainly been an interesting ride so far. And

I'm sure-as-hell going to get myself a very small role in the film. I

have yet to share this information with my colleagues, so don't say

anything, OK?
