HARYANA, INDIA: An umbrella body has been created to represent
professional PR consultancies in India.
The Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI) will
represent the Rs10 million industry, which employs over 8,000 people.
According to the organization's website, the PRCAI "represents India's
public relations consultancy sector while providing a forum for
government, public bodies, industry associations, trade, and others to
confer with public relations consultants as a body."
Prema Sagar, founding president of the PRCAI, explained, "PRCAI has been
established to develop standards, ethics, expertise, and knowledge in
the PR industry in India.
In each of these areas, the primary objective is to benchmark the PR
industry in India with international practices."
The association will also endeavor to impart focused learning and
development programs in order to upgrade skill sets and improve the
service standards of the existing talent pool.
The PRCAI is affiliated to the International Communications
Consultancies Organization (ICCO), and has among its founding members
20:20 Media, Corporate Voice, Genesis PR, Good Relations, Hanmer &
Partners, Ogilvy PR, and Text 100 India.
