WSW wrestles i2 PR from Edelman

DALLAS: Weber Shandwick Worldwide has grabbed i2 Technologies' PR

account from Edelman in a fight that also included

Fleishman-Hillard.

The software company's PR director, Susan La Dow, wouldn't acknowledge

the selection, stating that contracts wouldn't be signed until late this

week. But sources involved with the agency review confirmed that WSW won

the prize, and that transition meetings had been scheduled among

Edelman, WSW, and i2 personnel.

The RFP i2 issued late last year appeared to seek a global agency and

unified messaging. Contenders made presentations in Europe, Asia, and

the US.

The close relationship between WSW's Dallas office and sister ad agency

Temerlin McClain, which serves i2, apparently tipped the scales in the

Interpublic Group firm's favor.

Although Edelman has an office in Dallas, much of its work for i2 was

handled out of the agency's Silicon Valley tech hub.
