Top names in auto PR all under one roof

DETROIT: Two of the best-known names in automotive PR have been

snapped up by Stratacomm to bolster its presence in Motor City.



Jason Vines, former VP of communications at Ford, and Arthur "Bud"

Liebler, former SVP of marketing at Daimler-Chrysler, will be joining

Stratacomm's Detroit office as principals. With them will be Bruce

MacDonald, a former VP of communications for General Motors and Saturn,

who heads up the office.



"Bringing the former top communicators of the Big Three under one roof

to provide strategic counseling is a first in automotive history," said

Jeffrey Conley, a founder of Stratacomm.



Vines left Ford late last year after the ousting of former CEO Jac

Nasser.



He had been at Nasser's side during Ford's two-year struggle to handle

the Firestone controversy. Vines has also been VP of external affairs at

Nissan North America.



Liebler is a longtime fixture on the Detroit PR and advertising scene,

having served as VP of communications under Lee Iacocca at Chrysler,

where he helped shape Iacocca's image. He left DaimlerChrysler last year

as it continued reorganizing its communications functions.



Stratacomm opened its Detroit office in 2000, taking over clients that

had been served by a Hill & Knowlton outpost there. The office has

annual revenues in the neighborhood of $1 million.
