New York: A Business Wire executive has told PRWeek that he
believes chief competitor PR Newswire (PRN) is engaging in unfair
Michael Lissauer, SVP of marketing and business strategy, said PRN is
telling its subscribers that they will get free access to Thomson First
Call (TFC) news service.
Lissauer called this a "major misinformation campaign," opining that the
$35 PRN rate increase means TFC access is not free, but
"Contrary to what PRN is saying, Business Wire does reach TFC directly,
per a contract we signed with TFC directly on Friday."
Eric Frank, Thomson's EVP for product development, said PRN and Thomson
have signed an alliance, but that Business Wire can still use TFC.
Michelle Savage, VP of PRN's IR services, said her company never claimed
to have an exclusive content relationship with TFC. She also claimed
that prices were leveled - not increased - across the board.
