Internal hire gets Baxter comms job

DEERFIELD, IL: Baxter International has reached inside to replace

Matt Gonring, who late last year left his post as VP of corporate

communications.

Sally Benjamin Young becomes the new VP of communications for Baxter

Healthcare Corporation, Baxter's principal domestic operating

subsidiary.

Young has been with Baxter for about a year, serving as VP of global

communications for Baxter's renal business.

Like Gonring, Young will report to Baxter's SVP of human resources.

While Gonring cited reporting structure as one reason for his departure,

Young said that she isn't concerned about not reporting directly to

Baxter's CEO.

"Access is just not an issue" because the company is committed to a

major role for communications, Young said.

Baxter has no agency of record, but has used Matha/MacDonald, Ogilvy

Interactive, and Burson-Marsteller for various projects.
