BBC's Ayres hired to teach UK to LA

LONDON: Alan Ayres, the BBC's top drama publicist, has been signed

by an unnamed LA-based agency to help its movie-star clients navigate

the British media scene. Ayres would not reveal the name of the agency

due to contractual issues.

Ayres said he'd been hired to do strategic and crisis work. "US artists

should be aware of what is right for them, rather than the movie or

theater event," said Ayres, who added that his strategy would involve

advising on such things as the most appropriate TV show to appear on,

and how to deal with crises.

Ayres, who helps publicize UK soap EastEnders, starts with the new

agency in May, and will be spending approximately two months a year in

the US.
