US Newswire gets WCC help to raise gay press access

WASHINGTON: US Newswire has allied with Witeck Combs Communications

(WCC), a communications and marketing firm specializing in the gay and

lesbian market, to offer a gay and lesbian circuit targeting more than

300 print, broadcast, and online news outlets. The package will cost

$195.



"We often get requests from community groups that don't have resources

to keep updated lists of gay media," said Cathy Renna, news media

director at GLAAD. "With the time and energy needed to keep an updated

press release list, this will be a service to a lot of

organizations."



Brian Taylor, US Newswire's VP of marketing and communications, said

that as the newswire that specialized in serving public policy

interests, the opportunity to give clients a chance to send out

information on such hot-button issues as gay marriages was "a no

brainer."



"We've always done well in reaching the mainstream media that covers

these issues, but many specialized media outlets have arisen," added

Taylor.
