PRN provides full-text press releases over portable Palm devices

NEW YORK: Through what the news service is calling a

first-of-its-kind agreement, certain press releases sent out through PR

Newswire (PRN) are now available in full text to wireless-enabled Palm

handheld computers.

John Williams, EVP of global markets at PRN, said the first categories

available on the Palm are auto, hi-tech and healthcare. In the next 30

days, he said he expects all key industries to be available, and

eventually all press releases will be viewable on the platform.

According to a PRN statement, the company is the only full-text

corporate news release service now accessible on Palm devices. In

addition, content will be integrated into the MyPalm portal or linked

from the Palm website.

Williams said the new distribution medium is part of PRN's larger

strategy to deliver news and information in the most technologically

advanced methods available.

"If you can get content when moving about and you are in a position to

act on it, you're part of the game," explains Williams. "You can't cart

around a PC all the time."

Kevin Hell, SVP of product management at Palm, praised the deal, saying:

"PRN's value-added services are a terrific complement to our overall

wireless offering."
