NEW YORK: Ruder Finn has started a new financial services practice group that will expand the agency's reach into the financial market.

The firm has hired Montieth Illingworth, who previously served as the leader of TSI Communications Worldwide's e-business group, to develop and run the division. Prior to his stint at TSI, Illingworth had spent 15 years as a business reporter writing for Crain's and The Globe and Mail of Toronto, among other publications.

"He's a great guy who brings with him a lot of style,

said Richard Funess, president of Ruder Finn Americas. "He engenders a lot of confidence from clients, and he provides them with the tools that they need to make good business decisions."

Called Ruder Finn Financial, the new division has already signed its first two clients: Fund Tech, a bank software solutions provider, and FDG Associates, a private equity fund.

In addition to offering clients strategic communications, Illingworth said that the group could also provide internet marketing, web design, digital content, and visual content profiles.

The group will focus on commercial and retail banking, brokerage, insurance, fund management, and the financial markets.
