I am a senior at California Lutheran University. This May I will be graduating, summa cum laude, with a BA in marketing communications and PR.Currently, I am interning at a PR firm in LA, Carl Terzian Associates (CTA). As CTA's "gofer,
I expected my duties to include fetching the morning papers, preparing coffee, and insuring that the toilets are gleaming white. To my surprise, I have yet to do any of that.
When I was 10, my business career began when I found a broken lawn mower in my neighbor's trash. I took it home, repaired it, and began a neighborhood gardening service. Shortly thereafter, I employed many neighborhood children.
At 16, I got a job with Bugle Boy Industries, a major clothing retailer.
After three months there, I was assisting what I thought to be a valued customer, when in fact I was helping the company's owner. The next day, I was offered a position within the company's PR/marketing department.
I oversaw the support staff, traveled nationwide, and coordinated purchasing efforts for 266 retail stores.
Today, in addition to my work at CTA, I'm the marketing/PR manager at the RollerDome in Thousand Oaks, CA.
