SANTA CLARA, CA: Worldcom Public Relations has been selected to execute a four-country campaign for Obtree Technologies.

The independent agency network bid against other, undisclosed networks over a 90-day agency search period. Obtree is a content management software developer based in Switzerland.

Four Worldcom agencies will be working on the account, with Silicon Valley firm McGrath/ Power as lead agency. Kaizo in the UK, HBI in Germany, and L&W in Switzerland are the other firms involved.

"Each of the firms participated in getting the pitch together," explained Jon Bloom, McGrath/Power CEO. He added that, except for a brief telephone conversation, the pitch was handled entirely through e-mail and PowerPoint presentations, with no face-to-face client meetings.

"The strength of the partners across the board was the single deciding factor for the client,

Bloom said.

Christina Bregy, marketing communications manager for Obtree, said, "We have subsidiaries in Germany, the US, the UK, and we're based in Switzerland. We were looking for an agency that could represent all the locations. We were impressed with the global reach of Worldcom - each firm really had a sense of their local markets."
