SAN FRANCISCO: GCI Group has confirmed it is in discussions with Wilson McHenry (WH) as it eyes acquiring the tech firm."At this stage, we are talking to them,
said Bob Feldman, CEO of GCI, but he did not reveal any additional details. Julie McHenry, partner with WH, declined to comment.
WH has closed its Foster City, CA office, and went down to a four-day week coupled with 20% pay cuts in May 2001. Clients listed on the website include Convergys and Celiant.
Just last month, GCI acquired 360 Thinc in Atlanta to create a multidisciplinary agency (PRWeek, February 11.)
News of the GCI-WH negotiations come in the midst of persistent rumors of another tech buyout: the possibility of a major firm negotiating an acquisition of Fitzgerald Communications.
Candace Quackenbos, Fitzgerald's SVP of marketing, confirmed the agency has been in talks with various firms, but would not elaborate on any future plans.
