PepperCom wins bid for ITT media relations account

NEW YORK: Ending a four-month review, ITT Industries has invited PepperCom to steer its stepped-up US media relations push.

NEW YORK: Ending a four-month review, ITT Industries has invited PepperCom to steer its stepped-up US media relations push.

Steve Cody, PepperCom's managing partner, said that ITT will rank alongside GE and Steelcase as one of his agency's three largest pieces of business.

The account will be managed in New York by senior director Ted Birkhahn.

ITT, a global supplier of technological components, has benefited from the stock-price shakeout that hit other corporations in the wake of the Enron scandal. Last Tuesday, its shares reached $64.80, a new 52-week high.

"I think there's a growing appreciation for companies like ours - companies that make things, produce them well ... and profitably,

said Tom Glover, PR director for ITT. "We're a well-managed company, and we've delivered consistently."

PepperCom's task will be to spread word of ITT's "growth, leadership, and operational excellence,

said Cody.

"We have a number of clients in the industrial sector, and a number of multinationals as well,

he added. "I think that experience, along with the focus we put on strategic positioning, really came across during our pitch."
