MONTVALE, NJ: Scott Keogh has moved up to GM, corporate communications at Mercedes-Benz USA. He replaces Jeff Fisher, who is now GM of corporate communications for truck manufacturer Freightliner, also owned by DaimlerChrysler.

Keogh has been with Mercedes since 1994. His prior position was manager of communications planning and brand development. Keogh has worked on interactive ventures and product placements for Mercedes.

In his new post, Keogh reports directly to Paul Halata, president and CEO of Mercedes Benz USA.

While Mercedes' US sales held up well during the recession, the brand is facing increasing competition in the luxury category from Nissan (which recently unveiled two new Infiniti models) and Cadillac (which is trying to update its image with US buyers).

Keogh wouldn't comment on his PR plans, but did release a statement that read, "Our opportunity lies in a continuous stream of exciting and innovative new products that are setting new standards in new segments, and we have some pretty powerful stories there."
