HOLLYWOOD: The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has appointed Keith Karpe as its new national executive for communications.Karpe will oversee both internal and external affairs for the labor organization that represents most of Hollywood's top directors. He will also be in charge of DGA publications, including the bimonthly DGA Magazine.

He recently got a taste of crisis communications at that post when three Fluor executives were visiting the World Trade Center on September 11. The trio escaped injury.
