I've always been interested in studying human development and motivation. As a psychology major at Clemson University, I used my friends as guinea pigs to evaluate their reactions to various studies and learn what factors influenced their decisions. In exchange for participating, "subjects
were rewarded with pizza and Coke.
My original goal was to become a clinical psychologist and write award-winning books on abnormal behaviors - like people who wear socks with sandals. (I never got that.) However, after interning at Melissa Libby & Associates (MLA), a PR agency in Buckhead (Atlanta), I was immediately hooked.
MLA presented my first chance to work with clients in the restaurant and hospitality industries. After graduation, I landed a job in governmental PR with Gwinnett County Community Services (GCCS). While there, I was exposed to several public affairs projects and the county's senior services unit. I was lucky enough to work on campaigns to increase public awareness of the county's programs for the elderly, including its "Meals on Wheels
service. So when a PR job opened at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, I was ready.
