LOS ANGELES: Fleishman-Hillard has hired John Stodder Jr. as head of its public affairs practice. Stodder was formerly deputy managing director of Edelman's LA office, and head of the issues and crisis management group.

Stodder said he is "looking forward to a lot of opportunities to do environmentally oriented work

at his new post. He added that his position at Fleishman will give him a stronger focus on public affairs, with clients such as the LA Department of Water and Power, and Dupont Safety Services, which consults on worker's compensation issues.

Fleishman also represents the LA Visitors and Convention Bureau, which recently had bad press over accusations that it's failing to solicit and keep conventions in the area.

Before joining Edelman, Stodder was a senior executive at environmental communications specialist PS Enterprises.
