INTERNATIONAL NEWS: PepperCom wins Ricoh AOR status

NEW YORK: PepperCom has beaten out Access Communications, FitzGerald Communications, and Coyne PR to replace Ruder Finn as Ricoh Corporation's new agency of record.

NEW YORK: PepperCom has beaten out Access Communications, FitzGerald Communications, and Coyne PR to replace Ruder Finn as Ricoh Corporation's new agency of record.

The New York-based PepperCom survived an original field of over 10 agencies to win the business.

Ricoh, a supplier of office-automation equipment and electronics, is best known for its copiers.

"I think the fact that we plan to have senior management working on the account impressed Ricoh,

said firm cofounder and managing partner Ed Moed. "And it's now fair to say we are developing a niche within the technology sector in office-products technology."

PepperCom senior directors Ted Birkhahn and Deborah Brown will share duties on the account.

PepperCom's largest client is Steelcase, which produces office furniture and technology products. The West Caldwell, NJ-based Ricoh said it was impressed with the strength of PepperCom's presentation.

"Their knowledge of our industry, their creativity, and the way they executed during their presentation made them the obvious choice,

said Russell Marchetta, public relations manager at Ricoh.

"We had a good seven-year run with Ruder Finn,

Marchetta added. "It was an amicable parting of the ways. We both agreed it was time for a change."
